07/16/2016 let your voice be heard community forum recap
Our First Community took place on July 16th, 2016. It was our first gathering and first time conducting a forum and it turned out to be a great success. The recap email process was not implemented until the 2nd meeting which took place on August 27th, 2016. The subject of the forum was:
* The importance of the "black dollar" and the purchasing power the "black community" has
* Ways to support and build up black owned businesses in Central Florida
* Ways we can form committees that can work with commissioners, legislators, and law enforcement to enact new policies (like body cameras for police , or re-defining what a "fair shooting" is)
* The pros and cons of the boycott and how we can be effective
* Community patrols for our own neighborhoods from black on black crime, and police abuse
