What Took Place?
On July 8th, 2017, the 1st ANNUAL CENTRAL FLORIDA COMMUNITY CARE FAIR & CONCERT took place at the Central Florida Fairgrounds Main Venue. Hundreds of attendants reaching over 750 all came together to give back to the community on one day. Aimed to help "stop the violence" this was an expo event with over 50 vendors from social services and non profits to financial services and job employers all in one building to show the great resources Central Florida has.
There was a kids corner with bounce houses, nail and face painting, and an after- party concert with live performances by musical acts, dance teams, guest speakers, food and drinks and more. What even took place that was more important was the vendors that were available from nonprofits to law enforcement to life and health insurance agents and more. We also had 3 workshops take place at the event.
The first was the "Why You Mad?" workshop, facilitated by Baruti of Brotherhood, Manhood, Fatherhood. This workshop focused on the stresses of life and how to maintain a positive mental health. The second workshop that took place was the Crime Prevention Workshop facilitated by Orange County Sheriff's Office Crime Prevention Team. This workshop focused on tips to prevent crime and to stay safe in any hostile environment. Followed by that was last but far from least, the Youth Employability Panel hosted by Crystal Dennis which focused on great tips and resources for youth to get employed or start their own business. It featured a workshop, panel and resource corner with resume tips and a "how to tie a tie" tutorial by one of our Let Your Voice Be Heard, Inc. volunteers.
There was also the after party portion of the event which featured guest speakers such as Miles Mulrain Jr. and Zulu Dynasty, Tranise Brown, Ameer Davis and more. LIVE PERFORMANCES took place by MOOK BOY, ELISEO (Of T.R.E.A.L.) , ANTWAUN MILES (Warlando), Quent Aleem, Revelations Acapella, Yella, King Biggie AND MORE! There were dance performances by DIVAZ of PYNK Sapphyre Majorette Dance Team, Kiara Celeste, Brittany Lyons and more.
The event was backed by media outlets such as 104.5 The Beat, Power 95.3, The Wire 98.5, STAR 94.5 and MORE!This event was featured on Orlando Sentinel, WFTV 9, Orlando Weekly, The Wire 98.5, 4 the Culture TS, 32805, Alliance for Safety and Justice and more. Youth Employability Panel
One of the highlights of the event was the Youth Employability Panel which focused on providing youth with resources on how to gain employment, begin their own business, or become more vocal in school and life. The panel consisted of 4 professionals ranging from educational services, legal services to entrepreneurs. The Youth Employability Panel was headed and facilitated by Crystal Dennis.
